Smiles for a Soldier — providing Laughter for our troops

Do you want to express your gratitude to a military member serving in Iraq or Afghanistan?  How about sending them the gift of laughter.  Award-winning Humor Writer, Sharie Derrickson, is selling her book, No Bad Deed Goes Unpublished, at a discounted price to those who wish to forward the book on to a soldier serving in the War on Terror with the 10th Mountain Division based out of Fort Drum, New York.  When you purchase a book over her website, you also tell her what message you would like to send, along with your name.  Sharie will write your message in the book, and see that a soldier in an area of conflict gets it.  Tell Sharie if you also want to include your name or email address so that the soldier can correspond back with you.  It's that simple.

The cost of the book for this program, which normally retails for $11, will be marked down to $7, tax included, and payment can be done via PayPal on the website, or you may forward a check to her at: Sharie Derrickson, c/o CSS Promotions, P.O. Box 42, Clayton, NY 13624.  Once payment and your inscription to your soldier are received, Sharie will forward the book in a monthly shipment to the troops.

"Being former military myself who spent so much time away from my family, I know how important it is to keep morale up," Sharie said.  "If they get messages from complete strangers inside a humor book, maybe it might get them through a bad day, or give them a much-needed chuckle," she said.  "I am focusing on the 10th Mountain Division right now because they are from my home area, and since my book deals with life here in Northern New York, they will be able to relate to the stories in it like demon-possessed snow blowers and why the only pipe that doesn't freeze in my house is the line that goes to my ice cube maker," she said. "I figured this was a good way for all of us who are grateful to give something back, and what could be better than laughter?"
